Using the book: RTI in Mathematics by Bender & Crane, ISBN: 978-1-934009-54-3, the group decided to address the need to familiarize ourselves with the topic of RTI in Mathematics by dividing the book into its six chapters to facilitate the study, discussion and available physical time of the members of the cadre.
The plan for implementing the PLC is:
The study group will begin February 7, 2012, with its first interactive discussion on March 6, 2012.
Five additional monthly discussions lasting no longer than 1 hour will follow, culminating on July 24, 2012.
While it is ideal all Math Cadre members participate fully, cadre members may participate as their calendar allows.
Prior to the discussion, the participants are expected to read the assigned chapter, and for their own professional development, answer the accompanying Study Guide questions (See URL in chart).
On the assigned date and time, each member of the Study Guide Team will lead a discussion via Adobe Connect or face-to-face.
. The session leader will determine the content of the discussion. They will take into consideration the chapter content, discussion/questions posed on the wiki discussion page, and discussion/questions posed during Adobe Connect or the Face-to-Face.
The session leaders will utilize the List Serve posted to the front page of the Wiki to notify/invite cadre members of the activities of the PLC. Cadre members are welcome to use the list serve and the wiki as a form of communication between and among the membership.
